She Did It

It's always fun to broadcast the success of the 'first timers' who are out there for the first time enjoying the woods and chasing their quarry.

Jess took her first bird, a jake, with me guiding her on April 28th.

Last week, she had to go out and do it on her own and...well...



21 pounds
11 inch beard
1.5 inch spurs

Now how's that for a first year 'tag out' bird?

Focus is now on getting her up in a tree in the Fall. I'm hoping to get her to drop a deer before I even draw my bow. But, that means I have to get to work on scouting, now.

It's all about paying it forward. Learned that from a few folks around here.

I always get a bit excited when a new hunter discovers the joys of getting out - even better when it's a gal. Don't give up guys - keep taking the lady-folk out into the woods: some of them are bound to love it!
