Expandables for Excal?

Post by trky chsr »

My favorite Muzzys no longer fly well from my Exocet 200. I just tried the MX3 and still erratic flight. I have some Wasp Jakhammers but I wasn't impressed when I killed a turkey with them (1 blade broken and the other 2 bent). I don't know how they will perform on a shoulder hit although a friend has killed several deer with them and swears by them.

So, any recommendations? Has anyone tried the Rage crossbow heads? TC

Note: I read the posts on Swackers and Boltcutters here so they may be in the running.

I've used several brands of mechanicals, leader of the pack is spitfires hands down. Screw one on the end of your arrow & hunt with confidence. 8)
Try slick tricks in a fixed blade...you won't be disappointed. :D

I have taken 10 deer with my Rage 3. All except one dropped under 50 yards, most under 25 because I double lunged them.

rage 3 blades work great and the 2 blade xbow ones work great... only bheads I shoot anymore! Slick tricks are great also though.

Spitfires wouldnt group where my fieldpts grouped for some reason. The grouped great, just 4 inches high left.

just sight them in for your bow though

I tried the 2 blade Rage & the blades deployed as it fired, Arrow sailed over 8 pts back. I was taken aback by them & they are in a pill bottle. Yer results may differ from mine

I shoot slicks when I can hunt, remarkable little head. The little is deceptive as they have 1 1/8" cut times 2 =2 1/4' total.

Do a little research on the magnus stinger and the ss snuffer, warranty like excal, bend or break return for new one, plus they fly like they should.

I like the X-acts like Norm I have watched deer drop in sight POURING life juice out their sides .
But everyone has different results with their different setups for BH`s .

I started with Rage 2's and added Rage Crossbows when they came out. I have had excellent success with both and am very pleased with their effectiveness and durability.

Rage has some new models out for 2012. At Cabelas today I looked at the Turkey 3 blade today at 1.75" cut ( I want to use these on Deer this year) and a new 2 blade at 2.3" cut.

I would recommend either the Excalibur Xact or the Swhackers. These are 2 of the best that I have found.

I've been using Rocket Steelheads, mainly because I already had them, but they've worked great so far.
