I love those pics. Did you do the modifications to the camera yourself or did you find someone else to do it for you? What a great concept, using a real camera as a trail cam. That is one of the reasons the reconyx cameras do such a nice job they use high quality optics and a fast shutter.

Do you just buy the cameras and modify them or just buy them ready to use?

Homebrew cam set-ups, the digital cam that can be hacked make the best trail n feeder cam's. There are at least a dz. made that can be hacked n some are better than others. I have a Forum friend on a HB site that built this cam set-up fer me. I sent him a good working Sony P32 & abit under $200 to him. Yes he does build them fer other ppl. P 41 N S600 make about the best set-ups. I don't think i would ever go back to a commercial cam. I am learnin how to hack the Sony's easiest is the P 52 & P32

Built a few cams my self . Lots of great people on @ Hags House and Camtrapper as well. I have been spending lots of time at Hags the last few years. I've built about 10 cams now for family members and the pictures are awesome. Most builds will cost you between $120 and $200 bucks plus the tools. It is a very big addiction, after you start building you cannot stop. I go some place and see people with cameras and I start looking at the cameras to see if it is one I can use. You will start buying cameras that you can use and have them setting around the house waiting to find the time to build your next build. When you hang your first homebrew camera your like a kid on Christmas morning just can't wait to check the camera. Save your selves run from this addiction. Yes buy them and use them but when you start building them you are doom .

I started to build my own trail cams a long time ago. The Sony P32 & 41 are the best and easy to do (there might be newer styles I do not know about now). The Olympus D380 and 360L are also great cams which give you the best "IR" pictures (normal looking B&W) night shots and colour day pics.

Hags house is a great place to learn and get help from. I found that Chasing Game favored companies that gave them cams so I stopped going to that site.

You will find that the camera is only a part of what makes a good trail cam, you will need quality motion/heat sensor and most quality control boards will have them already installed.

Have fun with your cam Mike

PS ..... the 4 cams I mentioned are not just for food plots, they will be real fast and can be easily used on trails.
