Ordered a new Rifle, What Scopes?

Post by Trx480Ryan »

Well i just ordered a new rifle last week and i should see it in in a month..

TC Dimension Bolt Action in 7mm Rem Mag.... I plan to take this gun moose hunting, that being said i need to find a scope, for the gun, from what i was told a 3-9 Power would be best for the game im after... Trying to find a good scope in the 400$ ish range that would work good, so im looking for some input on the subject, i've been looking at some Nikon's And leupold's at the moment, but looking for some advice.

Personally, I would look at the Leupold and Pentax scopes in the $400 to $550 range. :)

I find it difficult to beat Leupolds for quality and durability.

Very true. I'm also a big fan of the Bushnell Elite scopes. The only advantage I really see with a similar priced Leupold is that the Leupold has slightly better eye relief. With magnum rifles, I prefer as much eye relief as possible!

And the Leupold is made in America!

The Leupold Vari-X I in 3-9x40 is an excellent scope. They normally run $229-$249US. I have one on top of my Remington 700 .30-06 and have no complaints. I have 8 or 9 scopes in the cabinet and it is certainly the best. I have a Nikon ProStaff 3-9x40 that is also similarly clear that normally costs a little less. Either one should fit your needs well.

In the 400.00 range you can do a VX-II 3-9x Leupold new or find a used like new VX-III 2.5-8x on ebay. I'm died in the wool Leupold fan, if you cant tell. They have a forever and ever warranty that the best part is you will never have to use.No fear of buying used as its covered by their warranty even if you arent the original buyer.Their customer service is very simular to Excaliburs, they try to go over and above to make customers happy, most of the time at their own expense.Do your researce, weigh your options, then buy Leupold, you wont be disappointed.Just checked on e-bay and you can actually buy the vx-III 2.5-8x NEW for 400.00 and a used for closer 300.00. The vx-III are awsome scopes, top of the line in anybodys book!

i have a mueller scope last summer for my .308, very reasonable prices as well as lifetime warranty :D . they depend on word of mouth for thier advertising instead of paying big bucks for it. take a look http://muelleroptics.com/

You can't go wrong with Leupold. If you plan to keep that gun for the rest of your life, spend a little extra and get the vx 3 with a 50 or 56 mm objective lens and a 30 mm main tube. As you get older with poorer eyesight, you will look back and be glad that you bought the top of the line. I own 3 Leupolds and they have never let me down. You can shoot with them long before or after legal shooting light.

I aquired a Bushnell Elite 6500 a couple of years ago and absolutely love it. I have 3 luopolds and can't get the focus that I can get with my bushnell. Must be my eyes.
