Good Fletching Glue

Post by phoenix phenom »

I have tried many types of flething glue, but I cant seem to find one that is strong, sticks quickly, not too expensive and will work for plastic vanes on a carbon fibre arrow. If you know of a good kind, that i can buy in Canada let me know.

That is the brand I have been using the last year or so . Seems to do a good job with Blazers . Canadian Tire carries it.

blue top seems to be the best but ive heard some have issues with it also..

goat tuff use to be great and 150-20second bonding times but now it takes 2-3 mins and then a good while to dry fully.

id try the blue top first now

I used to use Gorilla glue blue top but now I use Locktite Gel with the blue top. I buy it in a double pack at Walmart. It doesn't leave a white film on my arrows as Gorilla glue did. I use for fletching and inserts as well. The best I've found so far.

since i went to the blue top ive never had a fletching turn loose..

I find that giving the shafts and fletchings a wipe with acetone before applying the glue helps.
The fletches may have traces of mould release agent on them and the acetone will remove this.
Wiping the shafts will remove traces of finger grease.
Over here I've been using Dragon Spit, probably the same as your gorilla blue top.
I've just started trying an accelerator which you spray on the shaft prior to fletching,it sets the glue off very quickly.

Does the Blue Top have to be applied to a damp surface like regular Gorilla Glue?

No, neither does the regular wood gorilla glue, I just did a dozen inserts w/ it. No water needed............

This is what I am currently using too, with excellent results.
