anybody seeing deer?

Post by xbowrook »

haven't been on in a while, busy at work... getting the itch to get the excalibur out and do some shooting.. .got myself a new Spypoint IR-6 trail cam, set it up yesterday.. deer are still hitting my set up from this past season so i opted to stay put and not move my stand, not for now anyways.. wife got me a pair of the I-Kam extreme video camera sunglasses, pretty neat.. already taken a video with them and successfully posted my first ever youtube video showing my set up and some trail cam pics from the past couple years.. been seeing some doe's and fawns , saw a doe and triplet fawns last weekend, not seeing any bucks yet but time will come for those.. also been seeing a breeding pair of bald eagles near our area which is awesome... just wanted to touch base and see if anyone is scouting for deer yet and/or if you are having any success? i hope to have some trail cam pics up soon..

The video camera glasses sound pretty interesting. Could you wear them hunting or fishing?

Every year the deer come out behind my house and eat the May-pop vine, or passion vine, that grows thick back there. It would probably be good for summer food plots. We see them most mornings and afternoons until it dies back about the time bow season starts. The bucks are getting ready to start loosing their velvet soon and they are already acting a bit rutty, maybe because of the moon cycle. I've been seeing a small 7, a small spike, and a pretty big 6 p for around here - tall antlers and big body. A bunch of does and fawns too. Usually all of the bucks but one leaves by the time bow season starts.

Been seeing deer in my backyard. Saw a nice six point a couple of days ago.

Where I hunt on the Suwannee River has been wet. The river has crested so hopefully my hunting grounds will start drying out within the next two to three weeks. Had about two feet of water over it. Tropical Storm Debbie hit us with twenty one inches of rain over a three day period. We need it.

Got a 6 and an 8 hanging around my spot, hopefully they hang around till Sept.

How do you like your Spypoint ? I just picked up an IR-5, it captures wayyy more deer than my 2009 Bushnell Trophy,is super easy to use, but I find the pics slightly grainy but not bad.

that's how it has been here too, really really hot.. i figured that is one reason the deer have been limiting their movements to early morning and late night only...

i like the feel of the camera, feels like a better quality , better built product.. i like the easy to use and set up features.. have yet to get any pics off it, just put it out a couple days ago and want to give it a good week or two before checking it... i have looked at pics of other peoples from the same make and model of camera and it's a good quality camera.. can't wait to see some pics..

you sure can, that is exactly what they were made for... you can type in "I-Kam extreme hunting" into youtube and see some video's.. it's pretty neat.. good quality, the ONLY thing i don't like is that you can't zoom, obviously..lol.. but it's nice, has good video and audio qualities.. my darling wife got them for me because i have wanted, for years, to video my hunts for 2 reasons.. 1) memories and learning purposes and 2) shot confirmation... these allow me to do so without carrying/worrying about alot of extra equipment.. once i get some more video, i will get it posted for you all to see... here is the youtube addy for my video.. like i say, my first ever video, so please be kind..lol..

Haven't been out to the farm I hunt but the wife and I saw a nice little doe yesterday while trail riding on our mountain bikes. We stopped when we saw her about 50 feet away. She spotted us too and cautiously walk towards us till she was about 20 feet away. We stared at each other for a couple minutes and then she slowly sauntered back off into the woods. It was a very cool meeting. :)

Seen only a couple does when out riding. Put the trail camera out a couple weeks ago and had only a couple pics of 1 scrawny doe.
