sighting cross bow with a gun borescope
i have the axiom smf and are trying to sight in the scope better. i have a arrow with a broke tip. the inside of a arrow is equal to a 270 fitting on my borescope. can i use a gun borescope in my bad arrow to sight in the cross bow? or would it make it off even more. help...................

Re: sighting cross bow with a gun borescope
I would say, just shoot it in. A bore sight is only going to get it so close anyway, the fine tune would still require shooting it. Besides, going out and shooting is fun. Start close and work your way back. I know that when I sighted mine, it didn't take long the get it close.

Not sure how a bore sighter would work with a crossbow due to the arrow having a very different trajectory than a bullet. Might be fun to try it out just to see what the results are. That being said it's pretty quick and simple to sight the bow in by shooting it.
Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.

If I remember right it was 8 inches low by my bore sighter . Wabi posted my original post on this topic .

To be honest, there has never been an issue I could not deal with.
I have always just shot it from a bench and had it dialed in with little effort.
With today's adjustable scopes it is even easier.
The equipment soon shows all my flaws.

I did this when I took a scope off my crossbow and put another on it. Bore sight the original one then remove and install the new one and adjust to the originals coordinates on the grid. Was real close. Figured it would at least be a good starting point. May have been overkill tho.

Re: sighting cross bow with a gun borescope
That was my original thought as well . The normal person who buys their one bow for life then this has no purpose . But if you are the one called to help sight in a bow then this could be helpful . Or if you just want to check your scope periodically to see if it is still sighted in . I know a few rifle hunters who sighted in their rifle back a decade ago and figure it should be spot on still at 1000 yards .

I saw this on a friends sight
use a laser pointer at X yards indoors move the cross hair too the laser pointer mark on wall or whatever should put you very close to a safe shot starting point

Re: sighting cross bow with a gun borescope
I've owned three crossbows and set each up with a scope.
First shot at 10 yards at center of target.
If all good then second shot at 20 yards.
If still reasonably close to center then move to 30 yards.
Then make first scope adjustments at 30 yards as necessary.
Dial in at this range over a number of shooting sessions before moving back further.
Works for me.
