Fast Vortex

Post by Gamikatsu »

my vortex tonight... using the angel majesty string courtesy of don (you rock). F1 shooting chrony, 90 degrees, 90% humidity.

i would say, Cudo's to excalibur, for accurately depicting there bow's velocity rating. no other company hit it on the head like you guys did.

330.8
331.5
332.1
331.5
331.7
331.9
331.5
332.1
331.8
332.1

i did not pick up any gains in speed with the angel majesty string, but the consistancy really tightened down.... the excal FFF string also netted 329-333 fps, I was happy with the FFF string and its 5 fps spread... but the new string... and its 1 fps spread... impressive! the vortex is sitting cocked right now, letting the new string stretch. but all in all, i'm extremely impressed with the string. Boo, well done! you will recieve a full write up on it soon.

i have a vortex also i never even come close to those speeds. the best i ever got out of 318 with a ff flemish string. but if your talking only factory bolt that 350 gr.i really think the crossbow co. should rate there bows with what people really hunt with.at least a 400gr arrow. i have four different xbows. not one hits where the manfacture says it should. maybe its just the way i shoot . the sz 380 is the closest.

excal posts the speeds and always adds the discaimer that the speed is acheived usin a 350gr arrow and a fff string..
im not sure i see that from most of the competion..

I've shot 3 different excals and all were right on or a couple ft faster or slower to what is advertise with a 350gr stick, brace height has a play in this all so.

The fastest i've chrony'd my vortex is 318fps with the excal fff string using a 393gr arrow. If i dropped the 43gr in weight that would put me real close to 330fps.

i took the three fire bolts i got with my bow they weigh370gr three shots @325so yes my bow will do 330. but i would like to see the 330 with a hunting weight arrow gt2 110 brass insert 100gr head lumen knock 405 gr =314 fps i just feel a little heavier weight arrow is better. in hunting i like my vortex a lot its the bow i shoot the most set up with xb30 scope
