Bear proof deer feeder.

Anyone have any ideas for a bear proof deer feeder that actually works!

I don't mind the bears getting a snack but they're good at destroying everything!

I think the words 'bear proof' are an oxymoron........

Getstid a spinner or dump style feeder & use a good guide wire & hang it. With couple turnbuckles take slack out of wire between 2 trees.

I use a 1/8 steel cable to hang between 2 trees and put the cable 20ft or more up one tree and attached the cable with a cable clamp after I run the cable around the tree about twice. I run the cable to the other tree and put a chain around the tree at about the same height to hang my pulley system, I the run the cable through the pulley down the tree and attach a boat winch to the tree with lag bolts and attach the cable to the pulley sytem and it works great.
You have to experiment with the cable to find out exactly where you want the feeder to hang. I let all the slack out of the cable to about chest high and mark the cable with a piece of tape and crank up the cable to get it centered between the 2 trees. If you have a tripod feeder you can make a hanging feeder by adding eye bolts to each side and one set of smaller chains attached with snap rings and use a snap ring attached to the chains to hook to the cable to pull it up. I also use a cable clamp on each side of the snap ring on the cable to keep it from sliding down the cable while it is being pulled up or from the wind while it is hanging.

We starting puttin these up 3 years ago because the bears here destroyed some of our feeders. Good luck.
