I use to always hunt up in a tree but now in a ground blind since my daughter hunts with me. I do miss being in a tree for the 360 degree view but now enjoy the warmth of a ground blind making my naps more enjoyable

2-seater ladder stands mostly. Very safe, comfortable, and can take my son with me no problems. Good for crossbow and rifle. Climber sometimes for trying a new spot. Home-made ground blind with very sturdy suround rail for rifle hunting long roads. :)

I have never used a "climbing stand".
I have no property to leave a stand on.
I have used perminent stands, while hunting with a
Buddy. A ground blind can present problems for early season hunting, when vegitation is thick and green.I can`t "reflex shoot" sooo spot and stalk is out.
What i need is to persevere, practice and patience.

I always hunted from treestands with my recurve bow. But for the last two seasons since i got the crossbow ive been hunting alot from blinds and just on the ground in natural blinds and love it. The crossbow has opened up so many hunting possibilities and areas I couldnt hunt before due to lack of good trees or what ever reason. I still hunt stands alot but love hunting on the ground now.

I think it all comes down to the terrain that you'll be hunting on. My usual haunts are fairly thick brush and lots of skinny trees, so I've had the most success just sitting on a plain 'ole Canadian Tire camp chair in a small clearing.

The past several years I've hunted on the ground exclusively, mainly due to packing around too much weight and tree stands being a bit of a squeeze and uncomfortable. On the ground I could spread out. The buck I got last year headed off the back side of the ridge and about dang near killed me getting it back up and out of there. After that, I vowed to loose some weight. This year, I'm going to be hunting from tree stands quite a bit since I'll have more room in them now. Doubt I'll give up totally on my little ground blinds, but my climber will let me move around a little more.

Hello everyone,

I bought my first bow a month ago. I bought a Phoenix.
This is my first full year hunting. I was lucky enough last year to fill my buddies doe tag with his Equinox. He hasn't been seen a deer while holding it yet.

Back to the topic. I love sitting in my double stand. The vantage point is so much greater. But maybe this year i will try the pop up blind too.

I have spent the last 30 or so years in tree stands. I only used blinds for Turkey hunting at times. I recently had rotator cuff surgery on my GOOD arm so it looks like I am going to be hunting out of ground blinds this year using an Excal Vortex on a Caldwell Dead Shot Fieldpod.

My nephew set up a DB Matrix for a week without brushing it in and then took his wife hunting in it. Dang if she did not shoot a 16" inside spread 8 point at less than 25 yards out of it and this was in late season in open hardwoods. Maybe I stand a chance. :D

I couldn't decide so I wrapped my tree stand in my ameristep ground blind...see me avatar. Kind of get the best of both worlds - elevation for greater visibility and scent control and weather proofing and cover for us fidgety types as well...

I use both and when I feel restless I spot and stalk as well.

I'd say the type of country, and game your after dictates the best methods to use. The bush in areas I frequent is no good for tree stands. So for me the choice is a blind, or just camo up and walk n stalk depending on what game I'm after. I enjoy both 8)

I have both, ladder stand in one spot and blind in another. I can see more from the stand but the blind is nicer in wind and warmer on your back. Sometimes I switch after 2 hrs and warm up in the blind instead of going home early. I got my first deer last year and it was from my blind.

I use both.
Depending on what area I am hunting.
Along the corn or soy bean fields there r no good tress.
Where I hunt between acorns and the bedding field I use stands.
Where I hunt depends on wind conditions.
May my aim be true and my arrow fly straight

I'm usually up in a tree when hunting but have sat on the ground in a blind or natural cover. I've had success with both but but prefer a tree stand. :)
