Best 100gr? Best field point accuracy?

Post by SniperWolf »

Hey Im new to the forum: k my wife has an Ibex smf with Flemish string and shooting 100gr tips. I tried her broadhead called the braxe. I was not happy with the performance and am looking a getting different heads. I'm looking more towards something that cuts a good hole that won't close up for good blood trails but has the flight of a field point. Any suggestions?

If you're open to mechanicals, I've found spitfire's to be extremely accurate and leave one heck of a hole. They shoot great out of my Vixen and equinox, and I use brass inserts in my arrows when shooting the 100 gr heads with the Equinox. Did I already say extremely accurate? lol. Plenty of great heads out there though... :)

I'd give the Rage Broadhead line a try if I was you. I find them to be very accurate and very very deadly! :)

Swhackers get good reviews as well. And I like the G5 Montec CS.

K I guess I should have added that I'm using the fire bolts. What about the X-act? Slick trick? Muzzy? Again I'm trying to achieve similar poi when I switch to a broad head from a field tip. Thanks

Ken.
Ken,

With all due respect, your sig line explains your loyalty to Excalibur and that is totally understandable. The rest of us are also extremely loyal to Excalibur products but are under no obligation to use them exclusively. Many and most here, yourself included, have at one time or another had or currently have non Excal aftermarket accessories, scopes, strings, quivers and mounts strapped to our bows or used non Excal arrows and broadheads. Some of us even openly endorsed PX2 broadheads, Vortex optics, custom strings and arrows. Just sayin'! :)

I have taken 2 deer and a yote with the 100g excal x-act. they fly great of course, and put the animals down quick and within sight, for fixed heads i really like the slick tricks. I didnt care for the boss wasp that initially came with the excalibur kit years ago. The 150g boltcutters are a sweet rig with a great design and fly great too but i have yet to hit a furry woodland critter with one yet and likely will not since im setup for 100g now.

No need for apology Ken. You were right also and reminders of that are not a bad thing.

No worries Ken, I wasn't trying to offend you either and hope I didn't. Now let's get back to talkin' bow and arrows and hunting. :)
