Can you all help settle this?

Post by newbie »

The wife thinks these are two different bucks, and as a man I cannot agree with her  , but as it is I think they are the same anyway  .
The pictures are seven days apart.
We have a little wager on this btw.

Hard tell With an iPhone screen, but the first guy appears to have makings on the side of his neck. 2nd deer not. For now I guess diff deer.

Image

the antlers look the same, yet this mark on his neck in in the first pic, not the second. It does not appear to be part of the weeds infront of him

whoops, i didnt mean to delete that image.

I think you better go ahead and buy her that new Equinox, I figured that is what you had on the bet.

I believe that the pictures are 2 different deer. Look at the right rear leg markings just above the 2nd joint. The antlers on the first deer look larger/different to me. JMHO

Second has a white spot on his neck you can't see in the first but the weeds are in the way, markings on the right leg look the same, the ribs showing in the first may be just the way he is walking, vote same guy.

Yes stand is off to the right 28 yards up a ten foot rise, 15 ft up in a big silver maple, dead on broadside from the stand, he is stepping down to cross a drainage ditch heading to where his papa lives, seen a monster 10 point stand up 45 yards from me after I sat there all morning last oct, he angled away walked in to the thick stuff.
Haven't seen his tracks yet this year but he was around after last years season closed

If that is not the same buck then he is definitely a close relative (maybe twin).

First thing I noticed was the antlers and the weight, otherwise it sure as heck looks like the same buck, and 7 days is a lot of time to slick up and look good if an animal finds good feeding.

A buck will bioligically release more testosterone after shedding his velvet in preperation to the fall rutting and breeding season. Weight gain is also a positive effect with increasing testosterone. That is why the weight gain is noticable.
