Best Place to Hunt in NA
Hey all,
Looking to get some opinions on the best hunting places (states, towns, w/e).
I'm gonna be getting out of the military pretty soon and I plan on moving.
Im not basing my entire move on hunting but it does carry some weight in my decision. I like to hunt with anything but it would be cool if i could use my xbow on a wide varitey of large game. Im in MD right now so Im pretty limited to whitetail, sika, and bear which is a rare hunt; I think you have to win a lottery or something. I woudl love to be able to hunt Yotes, Moose, Elk, Mulies, Bear, and Mt goats/Bighorn.
Any opionions appreciated.

Alberta or British Columbia. Period!

If you like a lot of Big Whitetails try Kansas, Ohio, Illionois, Texas. Good Luck with your decision

Sounds like you you need to move to the rockies of alberta/bc! 8 months out of the year might be cold, but you can hunt something 12 months out of the year.Dayelight wrote: I woudl love to be able to hunt Yotes, Moose, Elk, Mulies, Bear, and Mt goats/Bighorn.

I think Canada might be a little bit cold for my taste. I enjoy the cold weather and that is a big part of the hunting experience for me but I dont think I could tolerate it for 8 months a year. Plus I dont think the wife wants to be an immigrant again. I already brought her here from Germany..haha.
Alberta looks really beautiful though. I spent a good bit of time on google images today checking it out. When I was a little bit younger I had a friend who lived in Calgary.
My brother lives in Texas. I do like Texas. The hog hunting seems awesome. They havent made it this far up north yet.
What do you all think of Wyoming?
Im leaning more towards the mid-west right now.
Anyone on here live in Wyoming, Nebraska, or Montana? Possibly even N or S Dakota or even Colorado?

I live 2 hours south of calgary and 1 hour east of the rockies, the weather in montana, wyoming and colorado is the same as it is here, anything from mild winters to extreme cold with high winds. one day it can be 0, the next 70. Ive been to 48 states, and if I had a choice of anywhere to live than here, it would be montana or wyoming, because it is exactly the same scenery, and the hunting is the same.

Washington State if you want to avoid Canadian weather.

You would probably need to check the regs for specifics but if you check out the mountain regions of Montana, Utah, Washington, Colorado you would see some pretty diverse terrain and animals similar to western Alberta and BC but with lower taxes and shorter winters

What you might want to consider is a location bordering 2 or more states where you could hunt multiple species in multiple seasons.

Im getting alot of good feedback from you guys and I appreciate it.
Im leaning towards Wyoming/Montana right now.
Seems like those two have some of most diverse game in the US.
