I'm heading out to Bluegrass Army Depot on Friday to scout and put up my stand for the daylight to 2pm hunt on Saturday with my Excalibur. The weather Friday is suppose to be mixture of rain and NE winds so maybe I can scout without scaring too many deer in the 60 degree temps. The problem that I foresee is Saturday weather of SE 7mph winds and temps reaching 77.
I can take a turkey, 2 does or a buck and doe but I'm really concerned with these temps that it might be really slow movement day and I don't want spoiled meat. The bucks must have at least a 15 inch spread, so it won't be just shoot the first one you see.
I have taken a nice 9 point and a 146 inch 11 point in my other two trips there with a firearm. This will be my first archery hunt and I hope to have a harvest to report when I return Saturday night.
