I had the pleasure of hunting with Chris (aka;NewGuy) this morning at one of his propertys, hes great guy to hang out with. He put me in one of his high traffic areas and I chose to sit on the ground with my back to a tree just 10 yards off of a tractor path and 20 yards from a corn edge. The morning was awesome, it had a great feel to it, it was just one of those days where you know game is going to be moving, just after a rainfall, sunny, slight chill in the air......perfect. Most times im just happy to be out, enjoying all of what nature has to offer. There was no need to sit so long as to cramp the ol arse, for shortly after legal light a nice deer came into veiw. He came from behind out of some thick cedars, walking onto the tractor path and turned once he reached it to come my way. There was some thick brush directly infront of me and once he reached that i pulled up my bow. Even though the thick brush blocked him from seeing me, the squirrel that was also on the same tractor path had a GREAT veiw of me and weirded out at the sight of me moving, which in turn weirded out the buck 10 yards from me. At this point he took it as his cue to turn around and head back the way he came from. OH NO! raced through my mind! but he hesitated... and decided to turn back off the trail and head straight into the bush right beside me to sniff an attracting branch

my bow already raised, i just had to move veery slightly to better aim my vixen. Released an arrow at 10 yards, and bang. Off he took. I knew shot placement was good since i had a lumenok on the end, but no pass-through...? Weird. 10 yards and i would have expected a pass-through! That was my only concern, and with that i texted chris to know what had just happened. We met back up, went back to his vehicle and let the boy rest. After a bit we resumed taking up the blood trail and after about 75yard(ish) there was the deer. The broadhead(slick trick) had penetrated both sides, but did not passthru. I expected to find part of the arrow in the chest cavity but he must have pulled it.
I am very greatful to Chris for the opportunity to
harvest....
utilize....
enjoy....kill or take( whatever you perfer. I perfer "enjoy") this animal.

Thanks Man!
