Caldwell Deadshot Fieldpod

Post by Bullzeye »

I could only find one post on here using the search function concerning this item, any one use one of these ??? I figure it be better than hauling around my Black and Decker workhorse( big + heavy) when I go shoot at my buddies farm, not to mention it be nice in my blind, and I figure my two daughters can use it when shooting since the x-bow is too heavy for them to hold.

They are on sale for around $75 in a few stores in the US compared to $120 here in Canada.

I have one and it has worked great for me so far. My main purpose for it was to help my grandson and nephews hold their gun for youth deer season. So far it has worked perfectly along the lines of a bipod and allows great lateral and vertical movement. It is not a lead sled as You still have to control the kick but you can easily hold a bow or rifle as steady as a bench rest without the weight. It has completely changed their attitude towards shooting and hunting as they can hold and shoot the gun with little to no help from an adult. Makes them feel like they are ten feet tall.

I am watching out to see if I can find a second one for a steal so the boys will stop fighting over it.

Looks cool! I am assuming it pivots in every direction? Does it stay in the position you were in when you take your hands off of it? Quiet?

That does look good, been looking for something like that so my son can do some target shooting. Will have to find one either in the US or locally here if I can.

It has tension adjustments similar to what you would find on a camera tripod. you can adjust it for the weight on the weapon so it can hold anything at the position you want. It is basically a heavy duty camera tripod with a customized accessory on top. Come to think of it, If you needed to I bet you could take the "bench rest" top part and put in on a regular camera tripod to make a taller rest for a standing shot or to replace the legs if damaged or bent. I may have to give that a try when we get home from the hospital.

Well I ordered one from Cabela's in the US, its on special, with shipping to a US address(I live near the border) it was a total of $85.94.
Now here is the funny thing, if you order just the Fieldpod its $79.99(on sale) plus shipping, but if you buy the combo Fieldpod and Wind wizard(wind speed indicator) its only $74.99 on sale. In Canada the combo is $160   and just the Fieldpod is $120

Seriously I hear ya Vix, its like bend over and sing Oh Canada, our dollar has been at par or better for over 3 yrs now and hardly any stores have reduced prices. When the dollar first went down retailers said that their stock was purchased from their suppliers BEFORE the dollar went up, yet now after years of being at par hardly anyone has reduced prices. Wait until our dollar goes down, they will jump at the chance to raise prices.

I'm all about buying in Canada and keeping our money here, but not at these inflated prices.
