String Stretchin Hook / Pic

Post by vixenmaster »

I was crankin down on me string stretcher it has the 3/8 dia. hooks. Pow sounded like a dang gunshot goin off. I about peed in me pants & me string popped up in the air! I straightened out the hook. No use puttin in vise to close it back as its shot when it did that. So i went gotstid couple of 1/2 dia. hooks to play wid!

Wow, you must have really been cranking that sucker up. What diameter hook were you using, I think mine is a 5/16 cloth line hook and mine never did that, but if yours was the same as mine I might get something larger also,

Upon reflection Mikey, if you bent those 3/8" hooks, you are over tightening the jig. That's a lot of metal to move...........

I built another stretchin jig rectangular usin 2x4's & it looks like they can hold up to 250 LBs I think i went over 175 lbs when i ruined that 3/8 dia hook. I found a light split in 2x4 today as i cranked down wid the 3/4" combo wrench. I bent both tubes on me brand new servin tool puttin Halo servin on some strings. So i got out me tight leather gloves Y when i pull servin i twist the string 2 wraps. I broke A majesty twice on another string yesterday. Dang lightweight material! :)

3/8" is all I use. Try straightening out the bend just before the hook and close the opening of the hook a bit.
You have lots more to learn and a few strings to break Mikie!
