This was never intended as a thread to compare the Equinox to other manufacturers, or to belittle any competitors product no matter how deserving of said ridicule it may be but to answer your question...roly wrote:you will find that the Equinox is hard on servings
also, you may want to do your own servings or get extra strings
Did the Barnett really do 400fps out of the box?
No, the bolts were around 430gr and it was hitting at around 380FPS, but would put a field pointed bolt about 15-18 inches through the back of my 400 fps target cube, the Equinox with default string you may see just the field tip poking out of the back of the same target by half an inch with the same bolt at 40 yards. This is one way i know that there is no way i am getting 350FPS from my Equinox as 30FPS wouldn't make this difference. It can be noted though that the Equinox was WAY more accurate for me at 40, groupings with the provided bolts were 4 bolts all within an inch and half. That and its still in one piece and working the same as it was on day one. With the Ghost, the further you got out the worse the aim, you could compensate slightly by swapping to arrows over 500gr and that would help, but still it left you with the feeling it was a bit faster than it should be to make accurate shots at 60 yards with a lighter arrow. In short it had a lot more noticeable power until it failed, but that wasn't necessarily a good thing since it affected distance aiming, the shock of the shot also rattled the picatinny that held the scope, which is not fastened to the stock or trigger assembly but simply fashioned to the alloy housing on top of it! This threw off my aim for later shots and the already bargain bin scope didn't help.
According the the feedback from other users, If you contact Barnett about this picatinny moving they tell you that you can't use a scope heavier than what is provided, or the added weight REALLY effect it even more.
In layman's terms its equivalent to a 2002 Camaro , basically the motor is too powerful for the construction of the vehicle. It will bend your motor mounts and destroy your product. That's my opinion anyways.
