my son first buck

Post by Dan.A »

Well i was going hunting for the weekend left thursday around 5pm my son asked if he could come which was a surprise he never asked before nor did he have a bow so right away i ran out to our local shop and bought him a axiom. I figured i would set him up in the spot i had been scouting for myself had pics on my trail cam and coincidently was a stand i had killed my first buck years ago. So he sat friday and came back in a fluster said he missed a doe that he shot high and it sailed over her back i gave him a bit if a lecture about taking his time and make proper placement that i didnt want him wounding anything if he didnt think he could make proper shot to let it pass he said he understood. This morning i sent him back to same stand while i went to set up at another location. 8:40am i get a txt he shot one and it ran i told him sit still and remember what direction he seen the buck run and i would drive over and meet him where he was. Took me 20 mins to get to him as i pulled up i could see him waiving his arms at me i walked over he pointed out where he shot him and we went over found his bolt and the blood trail we high 5 and i said good job now lets have a seat and wait abit before we rush in so 45 mins or so go by and we start out looking blood trail went down a steep ravine climbed to bottom and there the buck was bolt went in threw ribs hit lung must of hit other side of ribcage deflected down through testicle area and sliced rear inner thigh.
