Where are the does?

Post by NewGuy »

We've got 6 bucks hanging and not a doe in sight. Neil's bucks dad was spotted twice Monday but no shots taken.

Not seeing does where I hunt this year, either. Normally have a good number of does hitting the feeder, but the bucks far outnumber the does there this year.
Seeing a few does in fields along the roads in the area, but not at my feeder. :(

Same thing here in MD. Had a game cam out for two months. Only thing i have got on camera is bucks. I do see does out along the roads at night too. Im not really sure whats going on. I thought maybe it was just my camera placement but its good to know Im not alone. I don't know too many people that would complain about it but heck, I want to put meat in the freezer not racks on the wall. Plus, I want to get the ratio right. I know there are a ton of does, Im not sure where though.

"Where are the does?"

Right here, taking refuge in my back yard apparently. Had nine of them out there just the other night. I'll trade you two for one good sized 10 point.

On my lease I saw 6 bucks before I saw a doe. The bucks are very active right now and are running the does away from the feeders. It's the same every year. After Thanksgiving, when doe season is over, all you see are does. Can't hardly buy one until then. :?

Not a chance, I believe someone on this forum ropes one at one time and it wasn't pretty :)

No shortage of does around the farm I hunt. Seeing quite a few of them as well as a few bucks. Just need them to wander into bow range. :)

As suggested before on this forum...

Don't apply doe estrus or urine to yourself or your may run into some unforeseen complications!

Opposite problem here, does and fawns all over, shooter bucks are like hen's teeth.

Spied 6 of 'em this evening. I saw them the other day in a short cut field. This aft i went to inspect. They were eating broadleafed weeds; strawberries, plantain, and clover in the evenings. It was probably does and big fawns. They're still browsing freely. I don't think the rut is in full swing yet.

Now that you mention it, the last couple weeks I've seen more bucks than does as well in Northern Virginia. Today my daughter passed on two smaller bucks, then shot the doe. That's not going to help the ratio any. They can't chase does if we keep shooting all of them.

I passed on 4 or 5 does earlier this season, waiting for a buck. I have not seen any does last 10 or12 days, all buck! :D
