Outdoors/Hunting magazines?

Post by VixChix »

Wanted to get an idea of who reads what.

What magazines do you enjoy most and why?

Also, what magazine would you like to subscribe to, but haven't?

One of the favs at our house these days is "Backwoodsman" - it's rustic, a bit different, and always has something interesting in it.

How about you folks?

Ontario Out of Doors monthly
The Backwoodsman monthly
Sometimes Fur Fish Game
And once in awhile Wooden Boat

I skim a lot of the other outdoor mags at Walmart or Chapters. They usually are not worth buying for the odd good article in them.

I quit all the magazines and memberships.
I now read articles online and occasionally visit the local library and do a little reading there.

Ontario Out of Doors and Outdoor Canada, which are perennial Christmas gifts from the kids. The rest I read at Chapters. Except Adventure Chase et Peche which I get at the cottage.

Not sure I can remember them all but I'll give it a go. Some I buy off the stands and many are monthly subscriptions.

Ontario Out of Doors
Deer and Deer Hunter
Turkey and Turkey Hunter
Outdoor Life
Varmint Hunter
Canadin Firearms Journal
Canada's Outdoor Sportsman
Horizontal Bowhunter
Bowhunter
Adventure Kayak
Canoe & Kayak

There's a couple other deer hunting mags but I can't remember them right now.

Hi. For any residents of Ontario, you have to read Ontario Out of Doors. From that go to Outdoor Canada. If you are a member of the National Firearms Association (you should be), you'll get Canada's Western Sportsmen automatically. I also subscribe to Outdoor Life and Field and Stream.

There are a lot to view and subcribe to. Support your local magazines. Provincially or Nationally.

It's the SEC college football of outdoor magazines. None others come close. Family and Christian oriented. Specific for North Florida though. UncleFester had an extremely good article about xbows in it a few months ago. There have been other articles about Excals in it, all very good. I have been in it a few times. Most of you guys will laugh at the Big Buck Contest, but please remember the priorities, safety 1, fun 2, fish & fur 3. :)
