An official dry fire member now !
Well today I dry fired my Equinox.Only the second day of shooting my new xbow I was excited about shooting it.Blowed the string completly off. I got so sick to my stomach ! So, I come inside and pull up the website and search through the archives and find how to make a string aid.I get the string back on and it looked to be sitting to far behind the line so I take it off and lengthen the string to where it sets about an 1/8 behind the line.I knew it would settle a little bit.My question is should the string be sitting on the line or sitting completly against the bumper pads? The bow looked to be in good condition after a thorough inspection. Is there anything I should check for that I may be overlooked?

1/8" between string n bumpers, take cottom ball swipe limbs both sides to see if'en any splinters have developed
Re: An official dry fire member now !
Thank you vixenmaster,I just measured from the string to bumpers and its 1/4 inch.Could this be what threw all my shots off from yesterday?

Been there done that and I know the feeling. At least you were alone to suffer. I did it in front of the gang at Boostock a couple years ago.....good times!
Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.

A good reason to hold off on a Flemish String if you are considering it any time in the near future.
I know I have put such thoughts off until I gain much needed experience as New Equinox owner.

Welcome to the club my Vortex has suffered 2 of those and is still working fine. I hope 2 times was enough for me to learn my lesson. I hope everything is good with your Equinox.

1/4" from the bumpers is not bad..it will creep down a bit in time so no worrys there..like its been said check your limbs..give every screw a check and then shoot away ..you may need a new string..give it a good inspection ..look for broken strands ..serving seperation and be sure to look at the end loops.Mike C wrote:Thank you vixenmaster,I just measured from the string to bumpers and its 1/4 inch.Could this be what threw all my shots off from yesterday?
oh ..look at your limb tips too make sure you dont see any cracking...

I wont forget that dreaded sound ever! I could feel it all the way to my toes. After putting the string back on and a few scope adjustments I am back in the killing zone!! I thought for sure I would be boxing it back up for outgoing mail.Needless to say,I ordered a new string and string aid today just in case.
