An official dry fire member now !

Post by Mike C »

Well today I dry fired my Equinox.Only the second day of shooting my new xbow I was excited about shooting it.Blowed the string completly off. I got so sick to my stomach ! So, I come inside and pull up the website and search through the archives and find how to make a string aid.I get the string back on and it looked to be sitting to far behind the line so I take it off and lengthen the string to where it sets about an 1/8 behind the line.I knew it would settle a little bit.My question is should the string be sitting on the line or sitting completly against the bumper pads? The bow looked to be in good condition after a thorough inspection. Is there anything I should check for that I may be overlooked?

What he said!
Been there done that and I know the feeling. At least you were alone to suffer. I did it in front of the gang at Boostock a couple years ago.....good times!

A good reason to hold off on a Flemish String if you are considering it any time in the near future.

I know I have put such thoughts off until I gain much needed experience as New Equinox owner.

Welcome to the club my Vortex has suffered 2 of those and is still working fine. I hope 2 times was enough for me to learn my lesson. I hope everything is good with your Equinox.

1/4" from the bumpers is not bad..it will creep down a bit in time so no worrys there..like its been said check your limbs..give every screw a check and then shoot away ..you may need a new string..give it a good inspection ..look for broken strands ..serving seperation and be sure to look at the end loops.
oh ..look at your limb tips too make sure you dont see any cracking...
when i dry fired mine it busted a tip..but i was using a FF string..not good :(

I wont forget that dreaded sound ever! I could feel it all the way to my toes. After putting the string back on and a few scope adjustments I am back in the killing zone!! I thought for sure I would be boxing it back up for outgoing mail.Needless to say,I ordered a new string and string aid today just in case.
