Duck Hunt with Dad

Post by GooGoos »

Well I have been tied up with work and schol pretty much all deer season.I was suppose to go to the Chris Young, Thomas Rhett, and Johanna Smith Concert Friday night and it was post poned. I made plans with dad to go with him and camp out in the duck blind Friday night since I didn't have to be to work till Saturday night. Of course school got in the way of that and I had to cancel plans with dad. Had to turn in my final paper for english online. I did my final paper on game management and why hunting is good for the enviroment and did a presentation. I got 22.3 out of 25 possible points on my presentation. Still waiting on a grade for my paper.

I finished my school work and went to the rodeo. Dad calls and tells me he has a ride for me to go down there to the duck blind if I still wanna go. So I left the rodeo at 9pm. Got my stuff loaded up and was changing into my camo in the car to meet up with one of our buddys. Mama dropped me off and we drove on down and headed to the duck blind. Got there at midnight. Froze all night! Finally the time came to put our decoys out. I had two boxes of shells(50 shells all together) and not even 1.5hrs into our hunt and I was on my second box. I killed my first ring neck, bluebill, and rutty duck.

Great hunt you guys. Way to stick it out. Being cold is never much fun.

Our duck hunting areas are all frozen over now. Only a few geese left.

Looks like you guys had a blast. I am already looking at duck boats on the internet. My first hunt last week was awesome. I'm thinking that duck hunting might bridge the gap between deer and turkey season.

Very sweet haul , awesome memories to be had that is for sure. I was thinking about going out duck hunting in the morning but it is going to be -8 so now I'm thinking something else to do. Lol that one duck your holding looks like a drake Red head , and a very nice one at that.
Congrats on a great day of duck hunting.

You and your dad crushed'em! Pretty jealous with your bag o' birds. I shot my first ring neck this year and they are great looking birds...still waiting for my first ruddy duck.

Thanks guys! It felt great to be back in the woods. I have been so busy between work and school, it was great to have some down time! And do I feel like a complete blonde!! Yes that is a red head I was kissing, not a blue bill! I lost some major cool points there! Haha!!

Congratulations on the ducks. We don't get to many Ring-Necked Ducks back home in Arkansas. I can recall them being quite a bit harder to hit than a mallard. You know you are having fun duck hunting when you have to pause to pick up all of the hulls.
