Rainy Day Fletch Job

Post by UPSMAN »

Spent the day doing inside chores. Thought it would be a good day to fletch the rest of my Gold Tips and watch some hunting shows.

that looks much better !!!! a rainy day here and I was working on my Arizona Fletcher today . cut off an incert too 1/2 inch an installed it in my Arizona bolt too get my fletchings closer too the rear.use too do them on my bitz but don,t use it anymore. the only thing I didn,t like about the Arizona bolt was it seems the fletching sets a little far away from the rear . but an easy fix!

I did a couple with the lumenok still attached to the bolt. That got them back closer to the end. Did a couple with just the raw end of bolt inside the EZ BOLT. Took them to the range and could not see any difference in how they shot. I measured the old 4 in. vanes from rear of vane to bolt end and decided I would just fletch all my bolts with just the raw end of bolt in the fletcher.

that,s great all my arrows I hunt with I done on the stock bolt Fletcher . but from now on when I do any more fletching they will all be closer too the rear. I have my scope mount cut out and my fletching set as far too the rear as I can get on my vortex for target shooting. and the next rainy day I will cut out my vixen mount. I get better groups when target shooting it seems.I,m a tinkerer!!!!!!

The arrows look good!
I put a set of "bolt" arms on my Arizona tool this summer, but I haven't even measured the distance to the rear of the vanes. They shoot good and that's all I worry about.

You'll have good and better days on the range and my not have anything to do with the location of the fletching.
The more critical element would be the spine of the arrow.
Indexing the spine and the fletching accordingly would make a difference.

To prove that fletching closer to the rear of an arrow makes a measureable difference, you would need to test with a shooting machine and not by hand.

I would not machine out my scope mount.

Great job! Those are my favorite color combination.
Have you seen my thread on UV light and arrow location? Those colors seem to work best for that technique.
Happy shooting!
