Got The Monkey Off Of Colton's Back!

Post by flightattendant100 »

My so Colton (10 yrs.) has been try for 3 years now to get a deer.He slayed four turkeys last year and several hogs, but we couldnt quite seem to put it together on a deer.Earlier the fall we had a nice 8 pt come into feeder and put its head down to eat. Colton got gun out the window and waited ...waited waited... finally deer raised its head and left. No shot fired! Oh well, we'll try again.Next day a smaller 8pt. came in and Colton got gun up and got a shot. No blood, no hair, nothing.Well we are running out of time, so Sunday morning, we are up in blind and a couple of "does" come into feeder. This time he gets gun up, out the window and makes the shot! HOOOO RAYYYY! Well come to find out its a little button buck, but it'll eat good, he's happy and proud and we got that mean ol' monkey off his back.Maybe now we can get us a doe for the freezer. Way to go bud.Image

Glad to see you let him make the decision of when to shot.
So much more satisfying I am sure. Plus the most important lesson to learn is to shoot only when you feel comfortable to do so.

Size is relative.
No doubt to an Adult this is a butt buck but to a small lad it is a huge moment in more ways then one. :D

Congrats Colton
