After shooting again today, I am finding this scope to be an annoying pain in the rear. You have to be so focused on getting your eye centered in the scope that it is taking some of the fun out of shooting. If you are just the slightest bit off, you are left with a blurry mess. I need to stop shooting my cam x at the same time as my 380-not sure how many on here have looked thru the cam x scope-the difference is night and day. I really like the looks and performance of the 380, but I have a feeling this scope is going to be finding a new home in the future(probably won't be able to sell it on here after this review  ). Does anyone else reading this have the same opinion of this scope. I had the shadowzone before and it had some eye relief issues, but nothing near the magnitude of this one.

Let me know when you post it for sale. I will be the first to respond.......

 I am really concerned hearing about this, I will be getting my 380 in a few days , i would have thought on a flagship model Excalibur would have made many many checks and checked again to ensure the setup to be bang on perfect. something must be wrong at your end.

It could be a bad scope, Maybee you should try another one before you give up that fast. Anything that is made by human hands can be flawed.

Im only saying that because my first lumi-zone scope was defective. Took it back to dealer ,he replaced it and boy oh boy what a difference. From the start the first scope had a loose lens inside.

I also am concerned about your personal Tac-Zone evaluation.
Have a Matrix 355 on a Fed-Ex truck that I will not see until last of the week. I bought it sight unseen after reading all of the raves and was personally impressed by the way the new limbs set.
Hopefully, you got a bad scope unit and it is not typical of Excals supplied product.

Thanks much

I just bought a Matrix 380 and I have already taken it hunting. I really like Tactzone scope and I consider myself to be extremely picky when it comes to my crossbow equipment. When I was setting it up I would shift the scope around, close my eyes then open them to see if it gave me a clear field of view when I was aiming the crossbow. That worked like a charm. I am definitely keeping the Tactzone.

Tryed messing with the scope some more. Moved the scope in and out on the rail. Adjusted the focus ring from one extreme to another. Lastly, I moved the scope down to the lowest power(275 fps mark). This made the scope a little more user friendly and not so blurry when my eye was off center. When on the correct power adjustment, it appears that the scope has a ring around the edges,ie, not clear throughout the whole sight picture. I am thinking there may indeed be something wrong here with this scope. Like I said before, my Shadowzone was a million times better than this scope. Can't imagine Excal would market this as an upgrade if all the scopes were like this one. Especially at a $219 MSRP. I will give Danny a call tomorrow and see what he has to say

Sounds like not enough eye relief within the Tact-Zone scope or additionally you ran out of rail adjustment or both. I hope something mechanical is wrong and can be replaced under warranty.

My Shadowzone scope didn't gather enough light for me and the illumination was a distraction and made the scope unusable under low light conditions. I see that only the chevrons are illuminated within the Tact-Zone scopes reticles which would seem to be less of a distraction.

Last years hawkes had the same problem of "fish-tailing" or whatever you wanna call it when your eye has to be precisely centered in the middle of the scope or you lose the full sight picture. If i had to guess, Im betting that this scope is made by hawke or comes from the same factory and that its the same problem. Just an fyi

Copperjohn, thanks for the update. That is exactly the problem I am having with this. Danny Miller is at the ATA until Thursday. I will get with him then and let everyone know what I find out. If this is the same problem, I am really surprised that Excal would use the same inferior product. These do indeed look just like the new Hawke line of scopes that Hawke is rolling out new for 2013.

Can someone confirm these are made by Hawke for Excalibur? I wonder how much this Tact-Zone weighs, since Hawkes XB30 scope are heavy.

That is correct. This is not a xb-30. It is closer to the new line of scopes that Hawke is bringing out. Still uncertain as to whether Hawke actually makes them for Excal though. Was told by someone on another forum that it was not a Hawke scope, so ???
