Tact-Zone Scope=thumbs down

Post by excalibrett »

I know earlier I said I kinda liked my new Tact Zone scope on my 380 other than the fact that the eye relief was not great. After shooting again today, I am finding this scope to be an annoying pain in the rear. You have to be so focused on getting your eye centered in the scope that it is taking some of the fun out of shooting. If you are just the slightest bit off, you are left with a blurry mess. I need to stop shooting my cam x at the same time as my 380-not sure how many on here have looked thru the cam x scope-the difference is night and day. I really like the looks and performance of the 380, but I have a feeling this scope is going to be finding a new home in the future(probably won't be able to sell it on here after this review  ). Does anyone else reading this have the same opinion of this scope. I had the shadowzone before and it had some eye relief issues, but nothing near the magnitude of this one.

Did you try moving the scope on the rail? forward or reverse? Or is it that specific.

Was hoping that was the problem, too. Didn't seem to help. You can position your eye closer or farther away with no problem, it is when you are just a shade off center left or right, that the problem lies. The shadowzone was a little fuzzy in this regard also, but this one becomes so blurry and distorted you cannot even make out your target.

Are you Wearing glasses? Near or far sighted? I hoping that this is not a overall problem. With a bow like Excalibur,With same hole precision. i hoping this scope works as good as previous models.

I haven't seen the scope for the camx or the matrix but I've yet to find a factory scope that was good. best thing is a rifle scope and hha setup which is what I'll end up doing before next hunting season.

Exactally what I was about to ask him. He is describing my Vari Zone scope when I first shot it before I adjusted it to my eyes. No problems since adjusting everything correctly.

Yes, the scope has an adjustment ring. Messed with that yesterday-no help in fixing problem. Like I said before, the scope is extremely clear when lined up exactly. It is when your eye is just slightly "off"-the problem here is that by slightly, I mean slightly. You have to be lined up so exactly when shooting. I can see this becoming a problem when your are trying to line up on a walking target in the woods.

Let me know when you post it for sale. I will be the first to respond.......

I know the FOV of my Shadowzone is much smaller than any of my rifle scopes and it bothers me also. The only info I could find on my Shadowzone was that it has a wide FOV  , not sure what the are comparing it to, sounds like your new scope is the same or even has a smaller FOV the my Shadowzone.
That being said, even if the FOV is small you should not be having the issue you are speaking of, your image should still be clear from the center to outside edge of the glass.

I never heard of a cam x scope, but I personally didn't like the Excalibur shadowzone scope that came on my 2012 Equinox. I replaced it with a Leupold VX-I 2-7x33mm shotgun/muzzleloader scope and there is no comparison. Plus the weight difference is enormous!

This Leupold scope has a heavy reticle which will shine in low light conditions and parallax is preset for 75 yards. I have it set on 4x and is crystal clear at very close range, so parallax is no issue for me.
