g5 montec's 125 ss

Post by maine hunter » Sun Jan 06, 2013 1:28 pm

:D just went out and tried the g5 montecs 125. they flew great!!!! i like the rage 2 125's alot, they fly just like my fp's. but with bigger game i wanted some thing more aggressive. they were about an 1'' low than my fp's. but left and right was dead on. the head might have gave it alittle drag to bring it down in inch. shot afew times, same thing, low 1''. i can live with that!!! great penatraion too!!! put 2 bag targets behind each other, and went threw one and 3/4 of the second one. the only thing that suck is getting the arrow out. anybody else tried these bh before?? p.s. i was shooting at 20 yards.

Mine shoot same POI as my FPs out of my Vortex out to 30 yards. Have not tried them past 30 as that is as far as I will shoot at a deer with a bow where I hunt. I shoot the 100 grain Montecs though.

Not with my crossbow but I have shot a few deer over the years with them using a Mathews Outback. Pretty good blood trails usually. Almost always had the deer drop within sight unless it was right at dark though. Just keep them nice and sharp and they will do a good job for you.

I love these BHs! Thought as nails, POI same as my field points out to 30y. I switch from 100 to125 g, slightly bigger also. Easy to resharpen, I have even sharpened the test broad heads for turkey. As for blood trails, Iam color blind but my buddy said it was good.

I was told to shoot 150gr broadheads out of my equinox, but the montecs are only 125s, would it effect it that much? I hate to think that there is only 2 or 3 broadheads I can shoot

:D you can shoot diffrent size bh's, some shoot 100's 125's and 150's. i like the 125 and 150's, i don't have to change my scope for them.

When I switched to 125 from 100g, I used weight spacers by After Shock. They add 25g to my 100g heads for small game or turkey. They are ones made for crossbow arrows.
