Matrix Question

Post by Glenn Farm »

Hello All -

I want some opinions about my consideration of buying the new Matrix 380. I currently have the equinox and would like to get the Matrix 380. My question is:

Should I wait a year or so to see if any of the "bugs" get worked out before dropping $1K + on a new bow? I know that excals are top notch but even the best of manufactures can have quirks when a new product is released and the general public is using the product in large numbers.

I welcome your thoughts. Thanks

all excal bows are top notch. you just need to ask yourself, why do I need a new bow. Is it because the deer can outrun my BEAST. "I think not" or do I just have to have the latest and greatest thing out there. If you answered YES to any of the above, I see a new Matrix 380 in your future.

I don't think I would be concerned about the quality, even if there are issues, they'll offer a correction to purchased Xbows. Supply and demand would be my reason for waiting. I'd be surprised if there are any real deals out there on them right now, being the demand is exceeding the supply. Excalibur has proven their lighter bows out perform most heavier ones on the market now. Considering the fire power you already have I'd wait for the hype to settle before making a purchase, if you stepping up into a heavy model it might be a different opinion.

:D you have a 225 that shoots 340- 350, does the extra 30-40 fps worth a grand?? i just got my vortex a month before the matrix came out, if i didn't have it,i would buy a matrix. but the vortex is so new,i wouldn't get an other one now. i love it. it's a 200lb, but it will take anything i would want with it. good luck.

The only 'Bugs' I'm aware of when it comes to Excalibur bows is a popular forum member here. Other than that, Excal's don't have any bugs. :D

maine hunter,
i have a vortex also and love it, but i do have plans to get a matrix but it has abolutely nothing to do with the extra speed it has much more to do with weight, narrower, shorter which means a ton easier to handle in a blind which is how i hunt 100% of the time. saying the cost is for only fps is totally wrong imo

Thanks for the responses. Its not a matter of FPS but rather the Matrix is shorter, lighter, compact, etc. and much nicer to walk with all day doing pushes and navigating through the woods.

If you have the extra money and from your reasoning I wouldn't hesitate if I could get my hands on one. I'm sure Excalibur did a lot of experiemnting and testing before these Xbows hit the market this alone with the excellant customer service would be enough for me not to worry about buying one.
