As a woman, could I span the Matrix 380?

Post by Calcobrena »

I'm 5'9" about 176lbs. I'm worried that I wouldn't be able to span the Matrix 380. I do exercise, but mostly dancing and jogging, so a lot of my strength I guess is in my legs. I don't know anyone with a 380, in fact my brother-in-law's crossbow, the one I'm used to shooting, is a compound and I'm looking to buy a recurve.

So... I'm trying to get a good idea of how to see if I'd be able to. Does anyone know some kind of ghetto home test I could do to see if I could span this thing?

Get a box, fill it with the names of all the people who own guns legally and respectfully, toss in a few more of the ones who don't think anti's should take them away and lift it up a few times, use a rope if it helps.

My gut says go with the 355 over the 380. But I've never shot the 355. The 380 cocks about same as the equinox for me and I THINK it might a bit much for you. Its harder than most compound xbows. The 355 would be lighter, shorter, easier to cock and supposed to be a tad quieter than the 380.

I really suggest you wait until the shops get them in stock and go shoot one before deciding. These are great bows but aggressive and I think you should shoot one before you get set on one or the other.

I shot both and thought the 380 was easier to cock, but just my opinion!!

What is very attractive to me is it's smaller size. I'm used to a smaller crossbow, but I want the easier maintenance of a recurve. I love the integrated anti-dryfire system in the Matrix series although I've never dryfired before, it is still nice to have. The price and performance difference of the 355 vs the 380 feels like the 380 is the better investment. I've never used a recurve, only a couple different compounds. I really want something that can keep up with my step dad and brother-in-law who generally use rifles for hunting but I just don't care for shooting guns nor the lack of sport in killing an animal with one.

I live out in the middle of nowhere in TN. The nearest place where I could try one if they had one to try is most likely Nashville (almost 3 hours away). I don't think I'll get to try a Matrix short of purchasing one.

You are judging again, a hair hypocrytical, wouldn't you say?

You know, there would be better fights for you to engage in, and much better forums.
How would you react if someone joined a forum you belong to and said that gay marriage should be banned? I mean, you are gay, and married right?
Do you feel those people are right in their opposition? Or do you think that maybe, there is just a chance that we should live and let live? Simply not understanding something doesn't mean we should ban it from everyone else does it?

This is you, isn't it Ami?

You can always buy a C5 crank cocker to use if you can't cock it by hand. I have been using one on my Vortex since having shoulder surgery and it is very easy to crank. Only takes a few pounds of pressure.

ok I didn't read all this so now I'm cutting my loses. Y'all have at it. If you try the 380 and don't like it I'm sure you can sell it. They are fairly new.

Pydpiper, I'm flattered you took the time to google my facebook and thought it appropriate to flaunt MY sexuality on a forum about hunting and crossbows. It makes sense when you don't think about it. I personally do not care what other people's views on marriage are. Their views on marriage or lesbians doesn't affect my marriage with my wife, nor can they use their views to fire bullets into the small, frail bodies of school children. You are comparing apples and oranges. Having a gun isn't a civil right it is a constitutional privilege with a much deeper meaning than is currently considered by many. Either way, I never attacked anyone for their views on guns, I merely expressed my own opinions that I don't care for guns and find them irrelevant. You, however, have taken the time to attack me for my views. I have friends and family that own and enjoy guns. That's terrific. I have nothing against them nor their views on guns. I simply do not believe a gun that fires projectiles through the use of an explosive powder should ever be turned on a human being for any reason ever. I'm perfectly fine with them being used on animals, however I personally do not enjoy hunting with guns and appreciate the skill involved with bow hunting much more. To me, this makes guns irrelevant. And if they were gone, it's a happier world for everyone.

Furthermore, you said I told you what you should and shouldn't be doing with your life? I have never talked to you before. You must have taken my viewpoint on guns very personally. Your sudden obsession with me is a little disturbing.

I do have autistic spectrum order and it has been made apparent to me that I have a different way at looking at the world. For example, I also don't believe in car ownership or prison--both should be abolished. You are really just wasting your time attacking me.

No, it would be a happier world for the anti-gun crowd.
