Mississippi Bill For Crossbow Full Inclusion

Will Mississippi be the next full inclusion state? Please give input to the Senate Wildlife Committee....

Mississippi Senator Giles Ward (Chairman of the Senate Wildlife Committee) has authored Senate Bill 2048 ( http://billstatus.ls.state.ms.us/docume ... 2048IN.pdf ) that will allow all Mississippians (without regard to age or disability) to hunt with a crossbow on private and leased property in all deer and turkey seasons.

The intent of this bill is to:

1. Allow all hunters more opportunities to hunt
2. Pass on our hunting skills to the next generation
3. Recruit new, younger, and female hunters
4. Retain older hunters

Monday, January 28th is the tentative date for bringing the bill out in Committee.

Just in from Mississippi.......


The full Senate voted to pass full inclusion bill about 4:00 this afternoon. The MBA agreed in writing to offer no more opposition to full inclusion of crossbows for all seasons. The bill still has to go to the House for concurrence but no opposition is anticipated. When passed by the house and signed by the governoer conventional bows and crossbows will now be allowed for everybody in Mississippi to hunt deer, turkey, and small game hunting in the respective seasons from October 1 through January 31 of each year.
