new way to remove inserts

Post by Mister B »

I have been trying to download a picture from photobucket but all I get when I post the img is the address written across the screen. What I wanted to show you was a picture of a unit I prepared to remove inserts and nocks. I took a cheap soldering iron that had a single removable tip and replaced the tip with a cut off field point that I resized to fit the tip hole and secured it with the same screw. I screw the field point piece into the insert, plug the unit in and hold pressure until the insert comes out. It is really neat. Hope someone can help me post a pic. I have tried multiple times with no luck. And yes, I followed intructions posted on this site.

Are you just pasting the IMG code in your post or are you clicking on the "IMG" button and then pasting the code ??

Looks very nice, i had thought about converting one of these from MPJA for the same purpose. They run about $15 and give you temperature control as well.

Very cool. That's a great idea! :)

Looks like that heats that up a bit too fast. I'd be worried about damaging the shaft. Does anyone else use this method?
Course my ex-wife always said i overreact too much, hence "the ex" , so i reserve the right to be wrong, now & back then.

Mr B`s iron works great :D just keep a study pressure on the incert as you remove it and you will not damage your carbon arrows I am useing a 80 watt Canadian tire iron to remove incerts from my Black Eagle arrows to use Q nocks for my Scorpyd bow with no issues
