Deer Hunting In Years

Post by Geodehunter »

How many years have you deer hunted? It doesn't matter if you used your crossbow, rifle, shotgun or a hand gun. If I make it to this fall it will be 45 years that I have been chasing these whitetails around.

wow.. 45 years!! congrats and i would love to sit down over a coffee with a seasoned hunter like yourself.. i love swapping stories, good and bad, with someone who likely holds as much knowledge as you must.. i , myself, have only been hunting deer for 8 years.. it will be 9 years this season (2013).. although i hunted small game ( grouse and rabbit) for years up north, after my parents divorced i headed down here to chatham with my mom and 2 brothers.. she re-married and my stepdad got me into it.. i love it.. there is pretty much nothing more i love ( apart from my wife , kids and family of course) than being in the woods.. i always said if anything ever happened ( god forbid of course) to my family, i would sell it all and live in the woods alone somewhere.. hunted for 6 years with a compound bow then after having major shoulder surgery on my left shoulder i opted to switch to a crossbow. .with my dad being an excalibur user for over 15 years, it was obvious my choice would be the #1 crossbow in the world. .never regretted it ... love it..

32 years for me. The last three have not been full seasons but only 4 or 5 days due to health problems. Hopefully my health will remain as it is now at least and hopefully get a lot better but I plan on chasing the whitetail buggers again this fall.

38 For Me. Enjoy it More each season. Question for You Geodehunter..There in Illinois I noticed that the second part of the archery season You now can use a crossbow. Is everyone still under the same 200# maximum draw weights as the regulations stated for those past 62 years of age or handicapped or can You use higher poundage crossbows now? Just curious as I use an Exomax. Would love for the DNR there to take those restrictions off.

If I can count the ones without a weapon, then 50.

With a weapon . . .only 35 . . or so . . .
