Rangefinder

Post by Geodehunter »

Does anybody on the forum use them? The reason I asked I was at the pawn shop yesterday and there was a Bushnell ARC 1000 there. Needless to say the price was right so it is in my hunting gear now.

I use a rangefinder when I first put up a stand. I mark trees, trails, edges, etc. I just remember the distances after that. (most of the time). I have several other stands over crops. Once crops are cut I use the rangefinder and place a tree branch or corn stalk at various distances.
I try to avoid using it when game is present just to cut down on movement.

I use my chuck adams edition range finder to range trees so I can judge the distance when the moment of truth comes around. Great for sighting in as welll.

I have a Bushnell ARC 1000 and I love it. I love it so much I lost it in the Trent River when my canoe tipped over so I bought another one. So if your looking for a free one check the Trent River

Range estimation is not my thing. I have tried every technique I could find, but I always manage to be a few yards off. Sometimes I am close, but not consistent to trust myself in a hunting situation.
I use the bottom of the barrel Bushnell, it works fine, but over the years the "plastic" lens has begun to cloud up, makes evening/morning spotting a bit harder.
I rigged a pressure switch to it (Velcro), for those times it is mounted to my bow. pretty happy with how it turned out, and it keeps movement down quite a bit.

I use a Bushnell Yardage Pro. It's a basic model but it gets the job done for me. I mostly use it for archery hunting so I wasn't too worried about getting one with the ARC feature. :)

Pydpiper,

Where did you get that spiral cable?
Also, is that just a regular heat shrink over your switch or something softer?
