I was introduced to hunting by a boyfriend so I unfortunately don't have any photos of hunting with my Dad. :( My very first deer - many years ago, the first of several Alberta mulies: No camo - it was the '80s.)

Tim & I hope to pass our love of the outdoors & hunting along to our son. He's getting to that age where he'll sit quietly for a bit. He's watched us butcher since he was 2 years old and always wants to help so we let him run the bag sealer. :) When I brought home the first turkey he got out his blunt kids cutlery knife and actually "helped" me skin it! :D

If he decides he doesn't like hunting that's OK - as long as he's not an anti. It's important that he knows that ALL food (even non-meat) comes at a cost to life.

This past fall he watched me gut and was great about it. We've often sat & gone through my anatomy textbooks together so it was interesting to relate the parts of the deer to the human equivalents. It's too bad that most kids don't get a chance to see that until they get to the formaldehyde frogs in high school biology.

I will always remember when I pulled out the heart and told me he didn't believe it was really the heart because it wasn't shaped like the ones he draws or shapes with his fingers. Good times!

Well, I have many fond memories.. I hunt with my mom and dad ( as well as a good family friend).. every trip out, to me, is a fond memory.

Here is my very first deer with a bow, well, with ANY weapon.. it was my first year and 5th time on stand, took this nice 9pt..

Image

Here is my first ever turkey.. shot him my 2nd year turkey hunting, opening morning.. very windy day, called him in on a stalk... 25 lb tom.

My fondest hunting memory. The first hunt I had with my son. His very first hunt and kill was a goose hunt. The first shot he ever took resulted in his first Canada goose ever at 12 yrs old. I will never forget the look on his face, his smile was sooooo big. It still makes me teary eyed every time I think of it.
