I sold my exocet 200 and a "spare" shotgun I had in my safe and picked up my new Matrix 380 this week. I love the size and weight of this bow compared to the exocet. I shot is a handfull of times today and it's smokin fast. As for noise it's as loud as my exocet but I've gotten use to that so there was no concern there. I haven't heard of anyone commenting on the trigger, but it feels quite a bit lighter than the exocet - to me it was very noticeable and a huge improvement. It has a little trigger creep but a very light squeeze after that. I was shooting bullseyes by the fifth shot (only at 10 yards). The effort to cock it was similar to the exocet - maybe a tad bit more pull but a shorter one, which for me made it feel easier.
My only concern with the bow is after the first shot I noticed the camo finish where the rope cocker sits at the back of the stock was worn off (see pic). I'm not sure if I did it when I cocked the bow for the first time or it came that way from the shop, but it is definately not suppose to do that, at least my exocet never did. What do think about it? Is the finish as good as their previous bows? Personally I liked the camo of the exocet better, but I'm not thrilled with the potential of my Matrix becoming an "albino" bow.
thanks for the pic mate, interesting, if mine does that ill be sending it back, not a great start really, but at least its just the coating.. still congrats on the bow

My black 380 did the same except grey , hard not to , it's a lot of friction riding that hump when pulling back. I'm not worried I doubt the deer , moose , bear , turkey will notice it while I'm hunting .

yup, if you cock your bow it will happen. I guess they could do something to fix it like put some sort of retainer of some sort but mine is the same way and its fine by me, it wears out do to cocking, plain and simple.
That is from cocking unevenly causing the rope to slide while it's balancing out. Nothing to be concerned about. Being so close to the ground all of mine to the same thing.
I noticed mine doing the same, more so because when I decock it with the rope cocker and the string rides in that grove. That is a lot of weight grinding into the stock as the rope slides. I doubt any paint job would stay very long under that kind of pressure.

The 380 I saw at the store had the same thing. I asked the sales staff and they said it happens to all crossbows if you rub the cocking rope back and forth.
Surprised though it happened on a new crossbow so soon.
Hey, you got first "ding' out of the way ... you don't have to baby it any longer.

I am wondering if you could put a rubber sleeve on the cocker to stop this, recon it could work well. I think Ill do that when mine arrives...... God I hope its tomorrow, got a pig hunt on tomorrow eve....

If it bothers you to much put a cloth there or something and put it over the bow as you cock it that way it doesn't rub the bow or you can attach it to the rope cocker as someone suggested smart idea never though of it
Guess mine was "test fired" once or twice (Thank You ) before it got to me, because it came with the same Beauty Marks. I plan on making them into Age Lines.
Letcha know if I manage to saw it through... (next lifetime that is...)
Cheers,

"Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."
Keep in mind the rope needs to slide across the rear of the stock during decocking, as the rope is pulled downward. This is what causes wear and when you first hook the rope cocker on, until it is evened up, it slides across the stock. The rope slides as you hook the second side to the string, the heavier draw Xbows will obviously wear sooner. 3M makes teflon tape, it is very expensive ($300 a roll), but it can prevent to wear.
