Wifes extra wool yarn

Post by kd8jgu »

Have seen articles on ppl doing this.
Have never seen it on a crossbow so figured I would try.
It does work and does make i big difference in sound.

Yes it does work------I use them on my recurves and longbows.
But it does slow down your speed some. The sound is probably louder to you than someone or a deer standing a few feet or yards away.

Kd8jgu, Looks good! I remember using them on my recurves and 1st gen. compounds, I think they called them "Muffs". At the archery shop i always requested "Cat Whiskers"and Muffs" on all my strings. My friends Dad told me to spray them at the time with "EARTH" scent for a cover scent.Skunk scent by the end of the week hunting.

Will try thru a chrony
It has taken away the snap I had in the string.
Wife said she could hear the bow when I was shooting.
And she was in the house about 30yrds from me now her reactions was all she could hear was bolt hitting target.

Kd8jgu, They did slow down the string,But the gain was a possible 2nd shot. I know on my Darton sl50 it made a world of difference back in the day of metal buse cables. Just might help the Matrix High pitch crack. When i first seen this post i thought you were tying sucker spawn for steelhead fishing!!!!

Serve them close to the end loops because the puff travel distance will be reduced and will reduce the speed loss. Serving the puffs closer to the center will result in the most speed loss because of the amount of travel the puffs take compared to being served near the end loops.
