Testing fish arrows

Post by Masboy »

Cabin fever so testing some fish arrows I cut down an made. there 20 inchs an solid fiberglass fletched with blazers an fish tips that I just removed the barb an with the slides an stops attached but no string yet . don,t know the weight because my scale don,t go that heavy. shot them 20yds sitting on my rear resting elbo on my knee . I only made two an one spins great an the other has some wobble . they are about 8 inches lower than my 470gr 2216 at 20ys . I was a little nervious the first shot an hit low an to the right but after that they all hit about the same poi an the one that spun well hit the same hole more than once . the other did not shoot as well but still good.so fish arrows are like regular arrows the ones that are straiter an spin well can be very acurrate.can,t wait to test these arrows with the string attached with my vixen an my peep sight that I have on it.this things going to be deadly on fish :D :D :D

They look like they do not have nocks inserted. If not you might cut your string shooting them.

Looks good but you better not miss the fish...... you will never get them out of the bottom of lake or river at those speeds. You could just carry extra arrows i guess.

I go to 22/64 inch for crossbows with moon nocks. Arrows are a little bigger and thicker than standard 5/16. I run mine 22 inchs long. I would be worried about 5/16's leaving the bow at such a high rate of speed after a few times with the flexing. I maybe wrong but makes me feel safer. CHEERS!

I never thought about a little longer fatter arrows sounds great . so next time I will get the fatter ones an make a little longer. Thanks wheelie! I think a big open face will be my pick as long as I can keep the line away from the bail. I,m hoping to get some big flatheadcatfish but carp are plentiful here. will have some pictures I,m sure . I ,ll be checking the creek that I launch in for carp soon because it,s warmer than the river an they show up early in it.

Masboy...I don't mean to be a pr!ck here but I think for this test to be valid your target should be fully submerged in water!!

Sorry...couldn't help myself.
