Re: Hunt's left on your bucketlist
For me, my "bucket list" hunts aren't about the prey, it is about the people I would like to hunt with.
Knocked a big one off the list in Oklahoma, that hunt was more important than the hogs we brought home, it was about gearing up with someone I have always wanted to hunt with, and I did.
Aside from that, I would like to hunt bear from the ground with my re-curve, and also run my dog on some cougars..
My list is topped off with the anticipation of hunting with my son, when he can legally be the guy behind the trigger. He has been my #1 hunting partner since he first pushed me in to pursuing the sport, he was 3 then, 10 now. He has an admirable gun collection and is motivated by ethics. 2 more years he will be standing beside me, gun slung over his shoulder..
I hope all you guys with aspirations succeed in accomplishing them! Best of luck.

My bucket list hunt is a bit different, I'm looking forward to hunting with my Dad for the first time! Ultimately, I'm hoping My Dad, my son and I can hunt together.

Re: Hunt's left on your bucketlist
You brought up the people you hunt with the best hunt I have ever had was my dad myself all 4 of my sons and the three grandsons.
we only shot one squirell that day but to watch the grandsons was a blast.

Re: Hunt's left on your bucketlist
Killing over a hundred ducks in a week as a group with my brother, Dad and both of my kids scratched a huge one off my bucket list this past season. It'll be an annual migration going forth. It will only cost me the opening week of gun deer season at home. It shall be paid.
On an individual note, my list would have these:
A bear with a bow (crossbow or vertical) while hunting from the ground.
A turkey with archery gear (0 for 2 so far).
A squirrel with my vertical bow (during deer season).
A deer with my handgun.

Taz, I started deer hunting with my father (ML) 6 seasons ago and loved every minute of it. My father hunted when I was young but never took me. I hunted rabbits and pheasants with a bow from the age of 8 to 16 by myself and was good at it but I always wished ny father would take me hunting with him.taz3 wrote:My bucket list hunt is a bit different, I'm looking forward to hunting with my Dad for the first time! 6 years ago I told my father I wanted to take him deer hunting and it has been one of the happiest times of my life doing so. We talk about it all year long.

Re: Hunt's left on your bucketlist
That's too cool, I can just imagine what that experience is like. We're both excited to go for turkey this spring, and I have some private land secured for deer season as well. He took me for rabbit as a youngster, but I couldn't go for deer or moose when I got older and my interest became different from his, and now it's gone full circle. Now the first thing we do when we phone each other, is a turkey call!!enormous wrote:Taz, I started deer hunting with my father (ML) 6 seasons ago and loved every minute of it.
