Arrow Speed?

Post by purl »

I'm using an Excalibur (of course) Exomax with Flemish Dyna Flight String, 20" Firebolt Carbon Arrows and 150gr BoltCutter broadheads. I'm just setting up my Vari-Zone scope. Any ideas of approx. what speed I should have with this setup?
Thanks

I'm thinking closer to 330, based on my experience with Equinox.

I am using the same set-up, Exomax, dynaflight string,S5 string suppressors, and Firebolt carbons with 175 gn SlickTrick Broadheads.I have not chronographed my bolts yet, but my Shadowzone scope is maxed out at 350 setting out to 50yards.

Thanks for all the replies. The Excaibur dealer close to home says he's chronographed the exact set up numerous times and said it's 330 to 335fps.

If you know your arrow weight, you got it whipped. Figure 1 fps for every 5 gr over 350 gr. The FFF is 10-15 fps faster than Excel for those who care, lol.

 Not the old tried and true 5 to 1 rule,.. say it ain't so :P . Still haven't heard any reasonable explanations as to why it will not apply to the Matrix. :? Good luck.
Different sized limbs, different power stroke, different length string = different way energy is imparted to the arrow from the bow. Therefore 5:1 may or may not apply. I think there have been chronograph posts showing that it's more like 3:1 with the Matrix bows.

315/330'/sec is what I used and I suggest that you start in that range.
