Re: New string
On buying strings, if you buy a spare string and after your first string is broken in and not creeping so much you can take it off and break in the second one .Then if you need to change while hunting for some reason it will be sighted in.xcaliber wrote:Buy another string so you have no down time. Buy two, what the heck. That way when you got two that need reserving, you might get a better deal, unless you do your own? Like VM said, don't let it start chewing up the string!
Re: New string
Strings is something I want to stock up on. I like the flemish style the best. Keep them all broke in and always ready to go!!

Danny Miller makes them all for Excal and has the cheapest prices..[740]483-2312

Re: New string
Ummm, currently have 8 "spare" flemish strings on the hook, some from Vixenmaster, some from xcaliber, both are great string makers, easy to work with, reasonable prices, even have a couple factory strings. Sometimes just like to swap colored string's to match my mood

Re: New string
Keep an eye on your serving, and if you notice any wear at all, just flip your string to rotate the serving.

Re: New string
Since I make and resere my own, I watch for serving wear, esp flattening from riding the rail (my latches are polished, so generally don't abrade the serving).
2-3 reserves and I cycle the string out. Got to admit that happens less frequently since I started using Angel Majesty serving material.

Re: New string
Testing the newest matrix version out for xcalibur right now and its very promising! I have roughly 70 shots through it and it looks new. Very little creep over the course of 3-4 days of sitting and shooting those shots I have only needed 3.5 turns to get it to and keep it at brace height. The string is still settling a little. The serving looks great. I would say that is has made a noticeble difference in noise from the bow, definitely quieter even though the deer wolnt really care. I would not hesitate to purchase strings from him!
