Matrix 355 Speed

Post by rattlerun »

I'm shooting the new Matrix 355 with a Boo Flemish string with cat whiskers, Gold Tip Lazer 3 Pro's, Firenocks, 2 inch Blazer vanes with helical, 112 grain Lock n Load inserts, and 100 grain Saunders Combo Points. Total weight 420 Grains.
I zeroed it in at 20 yards. Then moved it out to 50 yards (don't have 60 yards). The arrows were hitting about 2 inches low, so I moved the speed ring on Tact-Zone down until they were right on. Thing is the speed ring reads 310 fps. I don't have a chronograph, so should I assume that is the speed of the arrow?
I don't know if the speed rings on the scopes are that accurate. Not complaining, just wondering. I hope to be able to chronograph in the next month or so.

That is probably close, My 355 with 504 grain arrows was shooting around 305-307 FPS.

The speed ring's on my hawke scope's are close but I will say not exact they get you in the ball park, No problem don't listen to the scope to closely. Chrony your set up and I think you'll be faster than what the scope is telling you .

Your flemish string is slowing you down some too. All the custom string makers tell me that the factory string is faster than a flemish. I am shooting my 355 the way it came with the diablo arrows it came with and with 100 grain field points(that gives me a 350 grain arrow total weight) and I am clocking right at 345 fps. I am told it will get faster as I break it in.

Dont worry about speed so much! Scope speed and arrow speed are two different things. They are just there for reference. I wish they wouldn't put speed on the scope just numbers. I could care less what mine is shooting as long as the arrow goes where I aim.
