got a turk this morn!!!!

Post by strum »

Hi guys..
I took a job a couple months ago due to lack of work in the carpenter field..
it all but killed my turk season and thats why i dont post much these days either..any way ..i got to be off sat sun and today so i took that time to get in the woods.. :D ...sat ...nothing ..not a peep out of anything..
sunday ..i heard a gobbler :D man it got me excited..but it didnt want any part of me and after two or three gobbles in the span of 20 mins it shut up and i never heard another sound all morn :(
so this morn i go to the same spot..6:16 a crow sounded aff and gobble..oh man i say ..so i yelped 3 times with my foolproof box he didnt answer right away so i waited..tick tick tick 3 mins then gobble . so i answered again ..nothin..tick tick ...5 mins and gobble ..so i took out my super hen slate and aswered with a real high piched drag (whine)yelp yelp yelp ..he didnt aswer on top of me ..30 secs gobble ..so i did the same thing ..then he answered ..but he wasnt moving ..gobble again and again and again ..each time i would answer ..so i got real aggressive with the whine yelp whine welp..i said to my self im going to beg him in or run him off..
all this started at 6:16 ..at 6: 35 decided i may better stop calling ..
thinking i was over doing it..tick tick ..6:40 i see him ..and he was on a mission..almost in a run crossed the creek and came in behind my decoy ..i wanted to watch him strut but he started clucking like crazy..not sure why but i figgered he didnt like what he saw ..so i asked him to please be quiet with my mossberg..not a big un but after the kill i got as excited as i have been in a long time..just pure joy..lol,,thats why we do it i guess,,i think a 2 year old ..9 " beard //3/4 " spurs..here it is 10 am and he is in the freezer im drinking coffee and tellin yall..wow what a morn..
