Why Should I update My Bows ?

Post by the elf »

Why should I ?
I hunt only;I don't do 3D shoots ;
Dead is dead;
My Vixen,Exocet 200 and boxed y25-will do it all for me at normal hunting ranges.[Deer and Bear--the largest game]
The newer faster models are a little narrower and shorter than the old ones
but over the years I have learned where my bows and I would fit comfortably
and accept it.
I am also 71 years young which might have something to do with it.
I have both stringing and cocking aids as well as a crankaroo.
The new 355 looks interesting; I have checked it out thoroughly .
But ?????? Do I really need it ?
Forgot to mention that I also shoot both Recurve and Longbow.

I feel the same way!

No bow has made me want to shoot anything but my reliable ol' brown Vixen.... until the 355. I confess to a tiny bit of xbow lust. 8)

I would only want the 380, it don't matter to me about width I like the speed and my max is as fast as the 355 with a few adjustments.

You should trade them in on a new one with smaller limbs. Flood the market with old ones for me. :lol:
On a serious note, I have no intentions of updating mine. My newest is 2008. But am looking for an Exomax for the price I seen a dealer offering people for them on trade in. Price I will keep to myself. :D

Gotta agree, kids bought me a Exocet 200 for fathers day :mrgreen: last year so I gotta keep that one, just bought a Equinox, guy practically gave it away so I had to have it. Wife has a Brand X 165 lb compound, what more do I need :mrgreen:

Cept just maybe a Hawke xb30 scope to replace one of the Vari-zone's, dream on :lol:

Nothing wrong with the old standard excals :) Had a vortex, then got a 380, then a 355 now I'm back down to a metal rail Ibex, will be keeping that one and planning on ordering an Ibex SMF or vixen in the next month or so. Until they come out with some lower poundage matrix my 288fps Ibex will get the job done just fine :) Has some vibration but easy to cock and dead nuts all day long.

Because we can...I only have my Y25 now and not wanting to shoot it I plan on buying the Matrix 380 so I don't have to shoot my Y25 but due to health its to pain full to use the rope cocker so I am hoping someone will let me know if the C2 will work on the Matrix. I only shoot my Turbo XLT with AcuDraw now.

My vertical bow is a 1993 Mathews....The first or second one they made. Every year I take it to the archery shop for some love and every year they try to sell me a new one....I tell them that I will get a new one when mine stops killing the critters that I double lung.

For me age brings reason and lust can go pound salt!!! :lol: :lol:

I currently have two excals and wish I had kept my carved tip Exocet as well.
I may add some accessories moving forward but am very content with what I currently have to shoot. :wink: :D

I had Voretx with FFF string. 394 grains at 323fps = 91,3 ft/lbs
Now I have Matrix 355 with factory string. 395 grains at 336 fps = 99 ft/lbs

Not much of a difference in power. But it is more compact for sure :)

:D :lol: i think the matrix are great bows, but it's hard to beat my vortex in my eyes. fits me like a glove, and get 1'' groups at 30,40 yards. hard to pass on that. very happy with it. but would not mind trying a matrix at boofest.
