Best thing since sliced bread when you can!
This is "Boogs" aka Amaruq. 1/2 Timber Wolf, 1/2 Alaskan Husky:
Seven retrieves of wounded deer without any hiccups whatsoever (none of them mine - all Buddy's critters that refused to fall).
Some of the best "insurance" you can get out there! Never a lost deer!
BC & Alberta have allowed this for years. Welcome to The Program!
Cheers,

Neil don't hold yer breath they already took away our yearly printed regs!!one shot scott wrote:Well, this colorblind hunter is glad the mnr finally got out of the dark ages and saw the light!
Are we absolutely sure that they didn't take some other "thing" away from us in exchange for this privilege? Ha!
Not all hunters and anglers are computer owners not sure how they will source all the new regs that come out
The best things in life are not things!!

Well they took away additional deer seals in WMU 78 - biggest and most varied WMU in the entire province with the most densely populated city, lots of farml and and very little, if any, public hunting grounds.one shot scott wrote:Well, this colorblind hunter is glad the mnr finally got out of the dark ages and saw the light!

A mistake in my opinion to paint such a large and biologically diverse area with the same "conservation brush".
Still looking for a link to the article if anyone has it

Re: Dogs legal for game recovery
Looks like it is still Pending in the regs:
A regulatory amendment to allow the use of leashed dogs
to track wounded big game is being considered. While
use of tracking dogs is legal in areas where hunting with
dogs is permitted, the regulatory change would allow the
use of leashed tracking dogs for retrieving wounded big
game in all areas with open hunting seasons. Prior to this
fall’s season, please check for updates on the status of this
potential change at ontario.ca/hunting or call

Thanks Robert! I tend to think he is rather handsome myself!robertyb wrote:Very nice looking dog there Nog!
He is my Constant Companion whether hunting or fishing:
Knows his mushrooms well, and hunts them down for me:
Guards The Catch every time:
And keeps a lookout for bears & riff-raff when we're wandering the lakes:
Quite doubtful any of the deer he has recovered would have ever been found without him. My Most Cherished Companion For Sure!!
Cheers,
Nog

I had read that too...however...they only way my girl Roxy would assist with recovery is if the deer was donut scented!!

Re: Dogs legal for game recovery
There are lots of things in the "fish and wildlife act" that make a sane man shake his head in disgust.. But this new step forward to being able to use a dog to track is a huge leap forward in a hunters tool box.
It never made sense to me why the MNR would take away the nose of a dog to recover an animal that can often elude a mans skills.
This was great news, thanks for sharing!
