Anybody ever eat raw venison?

I have been seeing a Korean Acupunturist for three weeks now for a rebelious stomach that 3 North American Stomach Specialist could not help me with. Anyway, I was discussing my diet with him and I mentioned that wild game is eaten in our house frequently during the week. His eyes went very wide when I mentioned that I hunt with a crossbow and butcher my own deer. He had a lot of questions about my hunting interest.

On wednesday this week I gave him a 4 pack of 1.5 year old backstrap loin as a gift and he was extremely appreciative. His sharp needles and medicine is slowly improving my condition and I wanted to thank him with a gift of food.

Today right off the bat he says that the deer loin is the best meat he has ever eaten and he, his wife and young child have been eating it raw, he said he cut it into thin slices and dipped it into special Korean sauce. He said the Japanese and Koreans do like to eat raw meat.

I found this kind of perplexing, has anybody else eaten Venison raw or know anybody who does?

I have but not in large quanities. I use to take beef that were ground up fer burger & my deer. Roll up a golf ball size & put abit of salt n pepper & eat it in couple bites.

He's right, it's delicious! It grosses out my wife, but I sneak a bit anyway now & then. I'm not aware of any concerns with parasites, like trichinosis with bear for example.

buck sushi ?? I think I've done that before with wasabi ginger.

Ground lean vension on a small piece of rye bread, salt, coarse ground pepper and a slice of raw onion is great. Beats the hell out of beef tartar and it's far better for you.

I ate raw horse once when I was stationed in Japan. It was dipped in soy with a bit of wasabi. I followed it up with a fast trip to the toilet to regurgitate.

I also ate a bunch of raw fish, of course, and I had whale jerky too.

Can't say I've ever eaten venison raw. I might have to try it this year.

When I was in Korea I ate Korean food a lot so its no telling what I ate ...all I know is that it was good.

I had a friend help me drag a doe out once and then he helped my quarter her up ..he had had a beer er 7 he sliced off a chunk of backstrap and ate
it...my wife and I didn't know what to say ..he lived so I guess to each his own.

Never tried it (yet), but if I were going to eat raw meat I'd much rather try deer (one I killed and know was in good condition and properly butchered) than something from the store!

The wasabi sauce sounds like it might be good.

Never tried it but am open to the experience. Ate some things in Nam that have me baffled to this day. My buddy ordered a 1/2 duck, go just that: half a beak, one eye, one lung, one kidney, one testicle, one foot and half of anus, with some feathers still attached.
