Best target for Matrix 380

Post by Matrix380NC »

Just picked up my new 380 since finding a home for my 2011 exomax. I've got a couple used block targets but I'm looking into either a rhinehart target block or deer but wanted to see what others were using. The exomax buried the 20" bolts into the two targets I have and I'm sure the Matrix will do even better.

Is there any particular rhinehart target that everyone would suggest, Are the blocks broad head safe.

Yes you can use broadheads, and the Rinehart Rhino block has a replaceable center.

I just bought the Rhinehart 18:1. I haven't had a chance to try my Matrix on it yet.

Bought the 18:1 & used it today for the first time with my Matrix 355. I can honestly say it the best target I have ever used. I used the Rage practise heads & stopped my arrows no problem maybe 3inches of penetration @ 20 yards & super easy to remove. It was a bit pricey but I can tell it will probably last me for many years to come.

Rinehart also makes the Rhinoblock. Same material as the 18-1, but is just a bigger target with a couple of sides being a 3dish look of the deer vital area.

I have the 18:1 too and it is great. I had it for 2 years. I shoot alot of BHs though doing alot of experimenting and I also shoot heavy arrows (~500gr - 575gr). It's getting tougher for me to find a side to shoot where my Vortex wont bury them up to the fletching. The "problem" is something like a Slick Trick that has a rather squared off back end of the BH. It tears up the target when you pull them out. But my 2 blades come out nice and only leave a cut. I do not shoot FPs into my Rinehart. I don't want to lose an insert in there. For FPs I have the Yellow Jacket Crossbow bag target. I've had it for like 7 years (can't remember). It's on it'd 3rd cover and I had to take it apart and "repack" it this year, but it's better than ever right now.
