i hate to admitted

Post by mudman#1 »

I was all fired up about this deer season, I got my new equinox put together, went out to shoot and cant pull it back all the way, I miss by about 2 inches, I shortened the cocking string ,I tried everything. I guess im not the boy I use to be. Now need to get rid of this one and find something I can handle, you all have any suggestions

I use a C2 due to heath issues, quite a few people here do, they are a bit pricey but work great. Make sure you get the correct one, the older model bows use the Crankaroo and the newer ones use the C2. I believe the C2 is for 2008 models and newer.

It is noisy if used as designed, but if you disengage the cog you can crank it with no noise, just do not let go of the handle while cranking of you will get a painfull lesson lol.

whats also nice about the crank is you always get consistent string alignment when cocking your bow.

If your in the US ,give Dan Miller a call, I think he sells them for $130, over my way they are $200 with tax

One of the 150 or 175# models is plenty for deer hunting.

It is best to cock the bow on the ground and then pull it up and load it after you are settled into your stand. I did carry my C2 crank up the tree with me just in case but never needed a second shot.
Look around if you are going to buy one. I found one for $100 shipped new in package off eBay when I bought mine. I see them on here and other crossbow sites for sale sometimes also in the classifieds/trading posts.

Ask in the trading post here. Would not surprise me if one of the guys has a spare laying around.

Shorten the rope cocker.
Real simple and it works. My rope cocker is shortened enough that I have to pull my string up around 7" to cock my Equinox.

Boo's idea of shortening the rope cocker works very well--especially for us height challenged and short armed people .

It is dangerous to release the ratchet on the crankeroo---however it can be made very quiet by placing the fingers of the non cranking hand lightly
on the ratchet cog as you crank.

The original crankeroo will work on all models---with the stategic placement
of 2 sided tape to fill up the gaps.

Hope this helps.

My back is shot. Blown out discs the whole 9 yards. Bad shoulders 40 yrs pullin wrenches. I can cock my matrix but it's not fun. My 4th grader is my hunting partner and I want him to be able to run the bow also . I am going to get a C2 crank cocker. Sure looks like the way to go .We also like to target shoot and we could shoot all day if we have a crank. I will buy from Dan if I get a new one .If any body has a used one I would like to try to make a deal. The good news is in Ga. we can take 13 deer each so we shoot young tender stuff better to eat and easy to drag. The last big buck I shot about killed me to drag out of a deep ravine and the antlers as cool as they were tasted like crap.

I am 74 & am able to cock/de-cock my Equinox while I am in my 2 man tree stands. Have you tried Boo's suggestion and shorten the rope cocking aid so that you have to pull up the string about 7" to attach the 2nd hook? Make sure that you have a good solid foot hold and try the cocking sequence with one smooth quick pull. I have had shoulder operations but still able to cock the Beast. I suggest that you give it some practice before you get rid of the Equinox which in my opinion is an excellent CB and extremely accurate!

Limbs are the same on every model (except for the Matrix)... A shorter rail will drop the weight down.
