Cocking aid on crossbow attached while stored away

Today I went to my local retailer to have him sight in my first bow. It's a matrix 380and once he was finished he attached the cocking aid to my bow and had in engaged like I was prepping to pull up the string. Would this be the proper way to but away my bow? If so why?

I do mine that way because its easy to keep everything together

That's how I store my 380 and all my other bows(so I don't lose the cranker or ropes), I just don't put much force on the string, just snug.

From August to November that is how I store my ExoMax. That way if I have my bow, I have my cocking aid.

I wrap mine around the stock where my rearward hand goes--unless I am shooting-------.When I am shooting the string is already pulled about 1/2 way back with cocker on string.
